Setting up your navigation menu requires only a few steps:
1. Navigate to your “Appearance Panel”
2. Choose “Menus”
3. Begin to add/drag over the pages/links you would like to display in your navigation menu.
For pages and categories you will need to create those before you can add them.
To create a page navigate to dashboard—>>>pages—>>>add new
To create a category navigate to dashboard—>>>posts—>>>categories—>>>fill in info and click “create new category”
Creating categories will allow you readers to see multiple posts on one topic when they click on that link in the navigation menu. Once you create a category all you need to do when writing a post is make sure you click the box next to that category name in the editing window (right hand sidebar) for it to display in that post category.
You can also add an external link to your navigation menu simple click the toggle button next to “links” and fill in the info.
Again all you need to do is drag the pages/categories you want over to the middle section shown above.
To create dropdowns: simple drag in the item so it indents above the main navigation title as shown above with “preview”
4. IMPORTANT: “Primary Navigation Menu” will display your navigation menu ABOVE your blog title. “Secondary” will display it BELOW your blog title. All themes are different please check your theme preview to see where your navigation menu will work best.
5. Click save.
