How To Start A Blog On WordPress.org
If you are looking to start your blog or website on the self-hosted WordPress.org platform the following info will help you with the first steps in getting set up. Below we will walk you through the steps of starting your blog or website using the self hosted wordpress.org platform. Aren’t sure if WordPress.org is the platform for you? See our quick guide to choosing a blogging platform here.
If you will be using any of our WordPress design services you should start by following the steps below.
LET’S GET SET UP
Step 1: DOMAIN NAME AND HOSTING
The first thing you will want to do is decide on a domain name. Take some time to think about the blog name that you would like so that you can choose a corresponding domain name. Your domain name can be changed later but it’s not a fun process so that’s why we always recommend putting great thought into your blog name before this step. You may want to come up with a few options as the domain name you want may not be available. So get a pen and paper and start brainstorming! IMPORTANT: Do not purchase a domain until you decide on what company you would like to use for hosting. See domain info below each hosting provider below.
For a website or blog using the wordpress.org platform you will need to purchase hosting. We highly recommend WordPress managed hosting, overall it is hands down your best option if you run a WordPress site (read more about WordPress managed hosting ).
We have put a great deal of time into the research of hosting, taking into account price in relation to options we decided on the 3 companies below. All are companies we are affiliated with, have worked with, and highly recommend. Take a look at what each offers to make your decision.
